The historic 2016-17 Northwestern men's basketball season was full of great moments. It has come time to look back and relive those moments with our Best of the 'Cats series.
Best of the 'Cats: NCAA Tournament Win
With a heavily partisan Northwestern crowd packing the stands, the Wildcats made their NCAA tournament debut in Salt Lake City. The Wildcats surged out to a 15-point second-half lead before Vanderbilt eventually rallied back to take a late lead.Behind clutch free throw shooting by Dererk Pardon and two makes by Bryant McIntosh from the charity stripe with 15 seconds remaining, Northwestern captured its first March Madness victory.

Fresh off its best run in Big Ten Tournament history, the Northwestern men's basketball team returned to Welsh-Ryan Arena on Sunday, March 12, 2017, for an NCAA Tournament Selection Show watch party. Joined by thousands of fans, Northwestern punched its ticket to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in the program's history.
Best of the 'Cats: Northwestern Upsets Maryland to Advance to B1G Tournament Semifinals for First Time
Playing in front of a hostile Maryland crowd in Washington, D.C., the Wildcats took down the Big Ten tournament's No. 3 seed. Scottie Lindsey and Vic Law scored 17 points apiece and Northwestern shot 55.3% from the field to advance to its first Big Ten tournament semifinal in school history.
Best of the 'Cats: Northwestern Rattles Off Historic Scoring Run at B1G Tournament
In its Big Ten tournament opener, Northwestern went on a first-half run of historic proportions. Trailing by three early on to Rutgers, the Wildcats rattled off 31 consecutive points, making it the longest scoring run by a team in Big Ten history. Scottie Lindsey and Vic Law each tallied 16 points as Northwestern marched on to the Big Ten quarterfinal round.

Best of the 'Cats: Bryant McIntosh Becomes Program's All-Time Assists Leader
It took just three seasons for Northwestern point guard Bryant McIntosh to become the program's all-time assists leader. In the final game at Welsh-Ryan Arena, McIntosh set up Vic Law for a dunk with a bounce pass for his 529th career assist, moving ahead of Michael Thompson on NU's all-time list.

In the final game at Welsh-Ryan Arena prior to renovation, a national TV audience on CBS saw the Wildcats square off against Purdue on Senior Day. A wild crowd cheered along as the Wildcats played toe-to-toe with the Big Ten regular season champions with Bryant McIntosh leading Northwestern with 25 points.

With 1.7 seconds remaining and Northwestern and Michigan tied at 65-65, assistant coach Brian James drew up 'The Play.' The victory gave Northwestern its program-record 21st win and bolstered its Tournament resume.
Best of the 'Cats: Upset at the Kohl Center
Despite playing without leading scorer Scottie Lindsey, Northwestern stunned seventh-ranked Wisconsin in Madison, snapping the Badgers' 19-game home winning streak. Bryant McIntosh was unstoppable, posting 25 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists in leading the Wildcats to a win over a top-10 team on the road for the first time in eight years
Best of the 'Cats: Pardon's Performance vs. Nebraska
Sophomore Dererk Pardon was unstoppable, posting 19 points and 22 rebounds to lead Northwestern to its fifth straight Big Ten win. Pardon's 22 rebounds set a Welsh-Ryan Arena record and were the most by a Northwestern player in a game in 51 years.
Best of the 'Cats: Win at Ohio State for First Time in 40 Years
Scottie Lindsey scored a game-high 21 points in leading Northwestern to its fourth win in its first five Big Ten road games of the season. The victory ended a long drought for the Wildcats in Columbus as it was the team's first win over Ohio State on its home floor since 1977
Chicago's Big Ten Team stormed out a 24-point first-half lead against eventual NCAA Tournament team Dayton, holding the Flyers to 4-for-28 shooting. Sanjay Lumpkin led with 14 points and a career-high 14 rebounds and Bryant McIntosh hit a clutch jump late to help the 'Cats hold on for a resume-building win.
