Lindroth To Compete On Big Ten Foreign Tour

EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern outside hitter Allie Lindroth has been selected to compete alongside 13 other Big Ten players on a foreign tour, June 17-28, in Italy, the Czech Republic, Austria, and Slovenia.
"I am looking forward to this trip so much," she said. "I feel this will be an incredible experience with Big Ten, friendships will be made, and many memories will come out of this trip to Europe. I am looking forward to learning, challenging myself, and coming back with more knowledge for my game."
The Plainfield, Illinois, native just finished her first year at Northwestern in which she appeared in 11 matches, totaled 21 sets played, and notched 15 kills. She made her collegiate debut against Dayton on Sept. 3, recording four kills, three digs and a block, all while hitting .375. She also recorded four kills on Oct. 23 against then 24th-ranked Illinois.
One student-athlete from each of the 14 Big Ten schools was selected to participate. This will be the second Big Ten Volleyball Foreign Tour; the first took place in 2015 in Croatia, Slovenia, and Italy.
Third-year Maryland head coach Steve Aird will lead the team.
The student-athletes will have the opportunity to participate in community service initiatives, study foreign languages with local students, and visit some of Europe's most historic cities, including Vienna, Austria; Maribor, Slovenia; and Venice and Milan in Italy.
