EVANSTON, Ill. — Northwestern heads back on the road this weekend for a series at Purdue. The Wildcats and Boilermakers will meet on Friday, May 5 at 5 p.m. CT and Saturday, May 6, at 5 p.m., before closing out the series on Sunday, May 7, with a noon first pitch.
Northwestern (17-26, 6-9 B1G) enters the weekend stint at Purdue coming off its most successful month of April in the last seven seasons. The Wildcats posted 11 wins in April, the most since the 2010 season. The month featured series wins over Air Force, Iowa and Penn State.
Purdue (25-17, 9-6 B1G) is the most-improved team in the nation and are in the midst of a seven-game win streak, its second such streak of the season. The Boilermakers finished the 2016 campaign 10-44 overall and 2-22 in Big Ten Play.
The Wildcats are in the hunt for postseason play. Northwestern is looking to make its first appearance in the conference tournament since 2010. Entering the weekend NU sits in 10th place with a 6-9 mark in Big Ten play, just one game out of the eighth and final spot.
