SCHEDULE CHANGE: 'Cats and Terps Meet in B1G Semifinal Rematch

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Seventh-seeded Northwestern dropped its first game of the 2017 Big Ten Tournament, 9-5, to No. 4 Maryland in a semifinal contest Saturday afternoon.
The league tournament is double-elimination and both team's will meet tonight to play for a berth in the Big Ten Conference championship game. Maryland suffered a loss to Iowa in its opening game and since won a pair of games to remain in the field and meet the Wildcats.
Start time for the tonight's elimination game is TBD. It will begin approximately 40 minutes after the conclusion of the other semifinal game between No. 5 Iowa and No. 3 Minnesota.
Northwestern (26-29) was led by Joe Hoscheit and Leo Kaplan in the effort, both tallying 2-for-4 performances with a pair of RBI. Hoscheit recorded his seventh home run of the season, while Kaplan swiped a career-high three bases.
Maryland (37-20) racked up three solo home runs and had a trio of players record multiple hits.
These teams have met four times this season and are 2-2 in those contests. Northwestern took a pair of wins in its series in College Park, Md., earlier this year, while the Terrapins grabbed the opener of the series and today's game.
Today's loss snapped Northwestern's seven game win streak, which was the longest since the 2003 campaign.
