EVANSTON, Ill. — Sophomore defender Claire Quinn was named First Team West/Midwest All-Region to highlight a trio of Northwestern Wildcats honored by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association Friday afternoon.

Quinn was joined by second-team selections Christina Esposito and Shelby Fredericks. This marks the second-straight season the Wildcats were honored with three IWLCA All-Region selections.

The IWLCA announced its All-Region teams on the morning of the first round of the NCAA Tournament as the Wildcats prepare to take on Albany at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium in Stony Brook, New York. Chicago's Big Ten Team and the Great Danes will play at approximately 6 p.m. CT.

Quinn has become one of the nation's top defenders in just her second season, leading the Big Ten and ranking 37th nationally in caused turners per game. Her 34 caused turnovers this season are the sixth most in NU single-season history and she set the second-best single-game mark with six in a win over Johns Hopkins on March 30. The Long Island has caused at least two turnovers in 13 games this season. An All-Big Ten selection, she was also among the Big Ten leaders in ground balls per game and is just shy of cracking the NU top 10 list in that category as well.

Esposito earned her second-straight IWLCA All-West/Midwest Second-Team honor after setting a career high with 57 points on 44 goals and 13 assists. A senior co-captain, she has scored at least one goal in 17 of 19 contests this season while posting 10 hat tricks entering NCAA Tournament play. Also an All-Big Ten selection, Esposito has 16 multi-point games and is just two goals shy of becoming the 16th player in program history with 100 career goals.

Fredericks was named to the All-West/Midwest Second Team for the first time in her career as one of the nation's top draw specialists. She ranks third in the country with 8.22 draw controls per game and is just 16 draw controls shy of setting a new NU single-season record. Fredericks posted four double-digit draw performances during the regular season, including a single-game program record 17 versus Penn State on April 13. A Long Island native, she has also been key for the Wildcats' attack, leading the 'Cats with 21 assists while adding 10 goals. She has recorded at least one point in 15 games this season.
