Cho bogeyed No. 4 and No. 7 to start her round, but was flawless the rest of the day. She immediately bounced back with birdies on the 344-yard, Par-4 No. 8, and 491-yard, Par-5 No. 9 to get back to even par at the turn. On the back nine the junior consistently kept herself in position to attack, piling up fairways and greens, and a birdie on the 139-yard, Par-3 No. 15 allowed her to card a 1-under 71 for the day.
Kim birdied her first hole of Sunday's first round, but then bogeyed No. 2 and doubled No. 6 to finish the front-nine at 2-over. When her approach coming out of the turn on the 375-yard, Par-4 No. 10 found the bunker, the two-time Big Ten Player of the Year remained resolute and holed out from the sand for a birdie. She also birdied the 390-yard, Par-4 No. 13, and the 336-yard, Par-4 No. 17, in a mistake-free, 3-under back-nine to finish the round with a 1-under 71 and a share of tenth.
Sophomores Stephanie Lau and Monica Matsubara each sit in 21st in place after carding identical 1-over 73's on Sunday, the latter competing as an individual.
The Wildcats will tee off Monday's second round beginning at 9:39 a.m. PT, paired with California and Oregon.
