Rosendahl Places Seventh on Platform at Canada Cup

GATINEAU, Quebec — Northwestern sophomore Olivia Rosendahl just missed a spot in the finals as she placed seventh overall on the platform at the 2017 FINA Grand Prix Canada Cup on Friday.
Fresh off becoming the the first diving national champion in program history last month, Rosendahl scored 289.45 points for fourth place in semifinal A. In Grand Prix competition, the top 12 divers from the preliminaries advance to one of two semifinals, with the top three from each semi qualifying for the finals.
Rosendahl just missed advancing after finishing 1.55 points behind Laura Marino of France for the third spot into Sunday's final out of semifinal She opened the semifinals with 65 points on her back 2 1/2 with 1 1/2 twists and then scored between 51.20 and 57.60 points on each of her next three divers before closing out her list with 63 points on a reverse 2 1/2 tuck.
The Los Angeles, California, native will compete at the USA Diving Synchonized National Championships in Atlanta from April 12-15. Rosendahl will compete with fellow Northwestern Wildcat Andrew Cramer of the men's program in the mixed synchronized 3-meter an mixed synchronized 10-meter. She will also dive in the women's synchronized 10-meter event. The synchro nationals will be used to select the teams that will compete for the U.S. at the 2017 World Championships in Budapest this summer.
