Kim Picks Up Sixth-Career Big Ten Golfer of the Week Honor

EVANSTON, Ill. — Hannah Kim has been awarded Big Ten Golfer of the Week after shooting an eight-under 208 at the 2017 Silverado Showdown, the conference announced today.
The 54-hole result was the third-lowest in program history and the second-best performance career of Kim's career. This is her second Player of the Week honor of the season and sixth of her career.
The Chula Vista, California, native led the field with 19 birdies overall, including 10 in the second round. She ended with a six-under 66, her lowest round of this season.
The junior carded one-under 71 in both the first and third rounds and tied UCLA's Lilia Vu for first place among a field that included three of Golfstat's top-eight players. The win was her second of the season and third of her career.
Kim is in the top-25 in scoring average (71.62) this season among collegians.
This is the Wildcats' second-straight Big Ten Golfer of the Week honor, with Stephanie Lau taking home the honor previously. Kim is the fourth NU women's golfer to receive the Golfer of the Week nod this season.
As a team, Northwestern placed fourth out of 18 entrants at the Silverado Showdown. Sarah Cho was the next-closest Wildcat finished, recording a two-under 214 over three rounds.
Northwestern women's golf is the 14th-best team in the nation per Golfstat rankings. The Silverado Showdown was their final regular season tune-up before the Big Ten Championships at TPC River's Ben in Maineville, Ohio, April 21-23.
