EVANSTON, Ill. -- No. 9 Northwestern hosts the NU Duals on Saturday and Sunday in South Bend, Ind. and will be put to the test against elite teams from around the country.

The 'Cats will fence against 12 teams with six matches each on Saturday and Sunday. Included in the competition is No. 2 Princeton, No. 3 Notre Dame, No. 4 Ohio State, No. 5 Penn State, No. 6 Penn, and No. 8 Temple.

The last home meet of the season will be Senior Day for the Wildcats, who will honor Alex Kain, Cindy Oh, Julia Abelsky, Kimmy Fishman, Sarit Kapon, Kayla Kelch, Alisha Gomez-Shah, Stephanie Chan, Mandeep Bhinder, Helen Foster and Stella Pointeau.

Northwestern is coming off a strong weekend at the DiCicco Duals at Notre Dame, where the team went 4-1 and narrowly lost 14-13 to the third-ranked Fighting Irish. Freshmen Aahana Chatterjee and Abby Tartell led the team with 7-0 and 8-1 records, respectively.

The Wildcats are 24-6 and have been building momentum heading into this weekend. Since the season-opening Philadelphia Duals, the team has 23 wins and just two losses to ranked teams.

At last year's NU Duals in South Bend, Northwestern went 12-2 with impressive ranked wins over Temple, Penn State, and Princeton. The team used the NU Duals as a springboard to an eventual gold medal at the Midwest Fencing Conference Championships.

Competition starts at 7 a.m. CT on both days. On Saturday the 'Cats will fence against UC San Diego, Wayne State, Penn, Ohio State, Princeton, Fairleigh Dickinson, and Penn State, in order. They fell to Penn, Ohio State and Princeton this season, but have collected wins over San Diego, Wayne State, and FDU already.

On Sunday, Northwestern will face off against UNC, Temple, Penn State, Stanford, Notre Dame, and Cleveland State, in order. The Wildcats will look to avenge last week's meeting with the Fighting Irish, and already have wins over No. 8 Temple and Stanford, who is receiving votes.
