EVANSTON, Ill.The Northwestern men's soccer program announced its offseason spring slate on Thursday, featuring matchups against nearby Division I competition as well as the Chicago Cup in late April.

"Our spring season is very important as we start to develop our culture and peek into next year's team," head coach Tim Lenahan said. "With the seniors gone there is a smaller roster as new leaders start to emerge and players look to establish new roles."

The Wildcats kick off competition on Saturday in Milwaukee, Wis. when they face Marquette at noon. They travel to Westfield, Ind. the next week to take on Butler on Saturday.

On Apr. 1, the #B1GCats will host a back to back against Green Bay and Lewis at Lanny and Sharon Martin Stadium.

Northwestern will kick off the annual Chicago Cup on Apr. 8 with a semifinal against Loyola in Rockford, Ill. The Chicago Cup Final takes place Apr. 22 at home against either UIC or DePaul at 2:30 p.m.

After holding the Cup for four straight years from 2011 to 2015, the Wildcats will be looking to bring it back to Evanston this spring.

"We want to both challenge ourselves with good competition as well as provide opportunities for everyone to play," Lenahan said of the spring season. "It is a great time of the year for players to get better and for the team to gel."
