Annual Baseball Benefit Set for Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018

EVANSTON, Ill. — The second annual Northwestern Baseball Benefit is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018, at the Doubletree – North Shore in Skokie, Ill., head coach Spencer Allen announced.
The event is headlined by some of Northwestern baseball's all-time greats, including Joe Girardi, Mark Loretta, George Kontos, Luke Farrell and Steve Sanders. All four panelists have significant playing or front-office experience in the majors. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet the panelists, hear their stories and participate in a Q&A session. Northwestern alumnus Glenn Geffner, who is the radio play-by-play voice of the Miami Marlins, will emcee the event.
In addition to the panel, guests will have the chance to meet and interact with the 2018 Northwestern baseball team.
Cost for the event is $150 per person and you can register here.

• 15 MLB Seasons (as a player)
• Four-time World Series Champion
• Former Manager of the New York Yankees (10 seasons) and Florida Marlins (one season)
Mark Loretta
• Played four years at Northwestern ('93)
• 15 MLB Seasons
• Currently: Special Assistant to the Baseball Operations Staff, San Diego Padres
George Kontos
• Played three years at Northwestern ('06)
• Two-time World Series Champion (2012, 2014)
• Currently: Pitcher, Pittsburg Pirates
Luke Farrell
• Played four years at Northwestern ('13)
• Made MLB debut on July 1, 2017 with the Kansas City Royals
• Currently: Pitcher, Chicago Cubs
Steve Sanders
• Played two years at Northwestern ('10)
• Coordinator of Amateur and International Scouting, Boston Red Sox ('14)
• Assistant Director of Amateur Scouting, Boston Red Sox ('15)
• Currently: Director of Amateur Scouting, Toronto Blue Jays
