Jackson's Fourth All-Big Ten Honor Leads Group of Four ’Cats on Offense

EVANSTON, Ill. — Northwestern senior running back Justin Jackson earned his fourth-straight All-Big Ten recognition, a consensus Second-Team selection, to lead a group of four Wildcats named to the offensive All-Conference team Wednesday morning. Combined with Tuesday's announcement of the All-Big Ten defense and special teams, a total of 12 'Cats received All-Big Ten honors this season.
Junior quarterback Clayton Thorson and junior offensive guard Tommy Doles were consensus third-team selections, while senior superback Garrett Dickerson was named to the honorable mention team by both the media and coaches as well.
Jackson amassed 1,154 rushing yards during the regular season, joining Wisconsin's Ron Dayne as the only players in Big Ten history to rush for 1,000-plus yards in all four seasons. He ranks third in the Big Ten in rushing and 27th nationally. The senior has surpassed the century mark on the ground six times this season and is averaging 96.2 yards per contest. The nation's second-active leading rusher with 5,283 career rushing yards, Jackson ranks third in Big Ten history and and 11th in NCAA history. In addition to his rushing marks, Jackson caught a career-high 43 passes for 266 yards and also threw his first career touchdown pass in the Wildcats' 39-31 triple-overtime win versus No. 16 Michigan State.
The #HOMEGROWN product rewrote the Northwestern record books this season, with new marks in career rushing yards, rushing touchdowns (39), total touchdowns (40), rushing attempts (1,110) and all-purpose yards (6,131).
Jackson was also named the Wildcats' Big Ten Sportsmanship Award honoree.
Thorson continued to be one of the elite passers in the Big Ten in the country, completing 258-of-426 passes for 2,809 yards and 15 touchdowns while rushing for eight more scores on the ground. He leads the league and ranks 18th nationally in completions per game and is third in the league in passing yards, yards per game (234.1) and fifth for points responsible for per game (11.7). The #HOMEGROWN quarterback became the program's all-time winningest quarterback this season with 26 career wins and also tied the program mark for career touchdown passes with 44.
Doles earned All-Big Ten honors for the second-straight season after being named an honorable mention selection last season. The Wildcats rank second in the Big Ten in first downs (277), fourth total offense (405.2) and scoring offense (29.7), and fifth in passing offense (244.3). Doles and his counterparts have been a key part of the Wildcats' seven-game winning streak as they have allowed just 10 sacks and paved the way to 194 yards per game on the ground during the stretch.
Dickerson also earned All-Big Ten honors for the second time in his career after setting new career-best marks in receptions (37), receiving yards (401) and yards per catch (10.8). He caught a career-high nine passes for 150 yards in the Wildcats' win over Bowling Green on Sept. 16, setting the ninth-best single game receiving yards mark in program history.
