EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern plays its first home game of the 2017-18 season Thursday when Oakland pays a visit to historic Beardsley Gym at Evanston Township High School. Tip is set for 7 p.m.
The game will be streamed online on BTN Plus on BTN2Go and will be broadcast over the air by WNUR. Live stats will be available. Links for all can be found in the table at the top of the page.
Northwestern is celebrating Willie the Wildcat's 80th birthday at the game Thursday. Willie's Kids' Club members will receive free admission and party games and free cookies will be available to those in attendance.
The Wildcats enter Thursday's game having defeated Chicago State 63-36 in the season opener. NU led the entire game and shot 55 percent from the field, the team's best performance since shooting 63 percent against Chicago State in 2014.
First-year guard Lindsey Pulliam scored a game-high 18 points in her collegiate debut, the most by a Wildcat in her first career game since Nia Coffey had 19 against UIC on Nov. 10, 2013. Junior forward Pallas Kunaiyi-Akpanah got the season started with a double-double, racking up 12 points and 10 rebounds.
The Golden Grizzlies come to Evanston following a 95-63 loss to Michigan State in East Lansing. Oakland is 1-1 so far in 2017-18. The Golden Grizzlies finished last season with a record of 18-12.
Northwestern and Oakland have met just once before, a 1980 Regional MAIAW Tournament game, in which the 'Cats won, 75-61.
Northwestern then heads to Martin, Tennessee, where it will play UT-Martin Saturday at 2 p.m.
