EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern travels to Champaign, Illinois, on Saturday for a 7 p.m. kickoff with a chance to win its fourth straight game in a row against in-state rival Illinois.

SERIES HISTORY
Northwestern and Illinois have met 21 times total, with the Illini holding a 12-6-3 edge. The Wildcats, however, have won four of the last five meetings and are riding a three game winning streak in the series. Last season, in the final match of Big Ten play, the Wildcats defeated Illinois 1-0 at Martin Stadium in overtime to clinch a share of the regular season Big Ten title. The 'Cats are 2-0 in their last two trips downstate to Champaign.

SPREADING OUT THE GOALS
Michele Chernesky and Regan Steigleder both notched their first goals of the season against Indiana last Thursday, bringing the total of Wildcats with a goal this season to nine. The Wildcats have relied on a balanced attack this season with five players notching one goal each and four players recording two.

SET PIECE SPECIALIST
Junior defender Kayla Sharples scored her third goal of the season at Ohio State on a corner kick in the 37th minute. Each of her three goals this year have come off set pieces as she rises high above the defense to head the ball into the back of the net. The goal at OSU was Sharples' sixth of her career, all coming as a central defender. Each of her goals have come since the start of 2016, and she has been the Wildcats' third-highest goal scorer in that time span. Sharples scored against Illinois year, converting off yet another set piece to grab the game-winner in overtime.

ASSISTING OTHERS
Marisa Viggiano recorded her fifth assist of the season when she provided the service for Michele Chernesky's game winner against Indiana. Her 12 career assists are the most out of any active Wildcat. Viggiano has 17 career points, including two penalty kick goals, the second-highest total on the current roster behind Brenna Lovera (19). The junior is now in sole possession of seventh place on the all-time program leaderboard for assists.
