Wildcats Advance in Qualifying at Riviera/ITA Women's All-American

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. -- Redshirt senior Maddie Lipp won a pair of singles matches and the team of Erin Larner and Lee Or picked up a doubles win to advance in their respective qualifying rounds at the Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships on Tuesday.

Lipp will need one more win on Wednesday to advance to the main draw after notching a pair of three-set victories. She opened with a 6-2, 4-6, 7-5 win over Emma Davis of Wake Forest before defeating 9-16 seed Maria Kononova of North Texas 7-5, 3-6, 6-3. Lipp will face Olivia Hauger of California on Wednesday with a berth in the main draw on the line.

Larner wasn't as fortunate, falling 6-3, 6-4 in her opening-round qualifying match to Sabrina Machalova of Ole Miss before falling 6-1, 7-6 (4) to Stanford's Emma Higuchi in the qualifying consolation draw.

In doubles action, Larner and Or were victorious in their first qualifying round match, rolling to an 8-2 win over the Virginia Tech team of Caroline Daxhelet and Elena Cerezo-Codina. Up next, the NU duo will face Florida's Brooke Austin and Peggy Porter and would need one more victory following that to move on to the main draw.
