EVANSTON, Ill. — Northwestern volleyball's home contests against Maryland and Ohio State on Oct. 13th and 14th have been moved to DePaul's McGrath-Phillips Arena, the team announced Wednesday.
Â
Opened in 2000, McGrath-Phillips Arena is home to the Blue Demons' volleyball and women's basketball programs. Located on DePaul's Lincoln Park campus in Chicago, the arena seats 3,000 spectators.
Â
The two Big Ten contests are the back half of a four game homestand for the Wildcats that starts with matches against Indiana and Purdue on Oct. 6th and 8th, respectively. Those two matches — and the rest of NU's home slate — will be played at historic Beardsley Gym at Evanston Township High School due to the $110 million renovation of Welsh-Ryan Arena.
Â
Northwestern has started the 2017 season on a tear, posting a 10-2 record in nonconference play, including a three-set sweep over Duke, who was receiving votes in the AVCA poll. The 'Cats open Big Ten play Sept. 20 against Purdue in West Lafayette, Indiana.
