EVANSTON, Ill. -- After opening the season with five-straight wins, the No. 24 Northwestern Wildcats will host Illinois State on Thursday, Sept. 8, and Marquette on Sunday, Sept. 11. Kick off is set for 7 p.m., and 5 p.m., respectively.
Both matches will be streamed, courtesy of Studio N Productions.
Northwestern is coming off its fourth shutout of the year against Colorado State. The Wildcats have only allowed one goal all season, in a 2-1 victory over DePaul. Sophomore Brenna Lovera leads the Wildcats in points and goals, with eight points and four goals in five games so far this year. Lauren Clem, who broke a program record for career cleansheets against Indiana State, ranks 14th in the country in goals against average (0.197) and second in total shutouts.
Northwestern's 5-0-0 start propelled the 'Cats into the national rankings. The squad will head into the weekend ranked No. 24 in the latest NSCAA Coaches Poll.
The Redbirds are coming off a strong week of performances, narrowly falling at No. 23 Notre Dame, 1-0, and defeating Green Bay, 2-0, at home. ISU currently holds a 2-4-0 overall record, however, each loss has been by just one goal.
Marquette holds a 2-3-1 record to start the year. The Golden Eagles are coming off a West Coast trip that saw a draw at Santa Clara before a 3-0 loss to Pac-12 opponent Stanford. MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List selection Morgan Proffitt was named to the BIG EAST Conference Weekly Honor Roll after scoring her second goal of the season in the 64th minute against Santa Clara. MU will face off against Milwaukee on Friday before heading to Evanston for Sunday's matchup.
