RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. – Rising senior Kacie Komoto and 2016 alum Kaitlin Park advanced through Stage I of the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Qualifying Tournament on Sunday at Mission Hills Country Club. The two Wildcats golfers will move on to Stage II in October.

LPGA Qualifying Tournament Information

All 346 golfers in the Stage I field played one round each on Mission Hills' Dinah Shore, Gary Player and Arnold Palmer courses. A cut was made after 54 holes, with the final round played on the Dinah course.

Komoto finished in a tie for 65th, carding a 5-over 293 (71-74-74-74). Park earned a share of 78th by firing a 6-over 294 (74-71-73-76). By virtue of advancing past the cut, Komoto and Park earned Symetra Tour status for 2017.

Both Wildcats were aided by familiar caddies. Rising sophomore Steph Lau, the 2016 Big Ten Freshman of the Year, was on the bag for Komoto, while teammate Minjia Luo caddied for Park.

Qualifying Tournament Stage II will take place from October 17-23 at Plantation Golf and Country Club in Venice, Florida. The 92 golfers that advanced from Stage I will be joined by 126 more that were exempt from the initial qualifying stage by virtue of past performance.

The third and final stage of qualifying will be held from November 28 to December 4 at LPGA International in Daytona Beach.
