Mao, Tangkamolprasert Named WGCA All-American Scholars

EVANSTON, Ill. – Wildcats senior Suchaya Tangkamolprasert and freshman Janet Mao have been named All-American Scholars by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA), the organization announced on Tuesday.
The criteria for selection as an All-American Scholar are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics with a required minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50.
Tangkamolprasert is the fourth student-athlete in Wildcats program history to be a three-time All-American Scholar, joining Amylou Dueck (1997-99), Jennifer Hong (2006-08) and Alexandra Lederhausen (2010-12).
The Bangkok native, who graduated in June with a degree in Economics and a minor in Business Institutions, earned First Team All-Big Ten laurels in 2015 and was a three-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree. She finished her career with the third-best career scoring average in Northwestern history (74.64) and was a part of three Big Ten Championship squads.
Mao surged up the Wildcats depth chart during her rookie campaign, beginning the spring outside of the starting lineup and ending it with her first career win at the Shoal Creek NCAA Regional and helping lead Northwestern to a program-best ninth-place finish at the 2016 NCAA Championships. The Johns Creek, Georgia, native's 73.92 scoring average during her freshman season was the sixth-best single-season mark in Wildcats history.
