PINEHURST, N.C. – Wildcats rising senior Kacie Komoto has advanced to the match play portion of the prestigious 114th Women's North & South Amateur Championship.

Komoto's match will be the last of eight to tee off on Thursday, at 7:56 a.m. ET. She will be paired with South Carolina rising senior Katelyn Dambaugh, who earned WGCA First Team All-America honors and was the runner-up for the ANNIKA Award this season. Thursday's schedule will include both the match play Round Of 16 and the Quarterfinals, with the Semifinals and Championship Match slated for Friday, July 15.

Komoto finished the 54-hole stroke play portion of the event at legendary Pinehurst No. 2 in fifth-place, six shots clear of the cut line to advance into the 16-player match play bracket. The Honolulu native carded a 9-over 222 (75-73-74), playing the course's Par-5 offerings at 2-under during the week, including birdies on No. 10 in all three rounds.

Pinehurst No. 2 – Hole-By-Hole

Pinehurst No. 2, the centerpiece of Pinehurst Resort, remains one of the world's most celebrated golf courses. It has served as the site of more single golf championships than any course in America and hosted back-to-back U.S. Open and U.S. Women's Open Championships for the first time in 2014. The U.S. Open will return in 2024.

Earlier this month Komoto qualified for the 2016 U.S. Women's Amateur Championship, scheduled for the first week of August in Philadelphia. In May she became the fifth Wildcats golfer in program history to earn three All-Big Ten honors in a career with a 2016 First Team nod. She led the Wildcats this season with six Top-10 finishes, including four Top-4 results. The Honolulu native owns the second-best career scoring average in program history, and the third-lowest single-season average (2015-16). Komoto has received Academic All-Big Ten honors in each of her first two seasons of eligibility, and was named an Honorable Mention All-American by Golfweek last month.
