Craig, Lasota Named to All-Big Ten Team

EVANSTON, Ill. — A pair of Northwestern Wildcats have been named to the women's lacrosse All-Big Ten Team, the league office announced Wednesday morning. Attackers Kaleigh Craig and Selena Lasota were among the 21 student-athletes selected by the league's coaches. 

Craig, a unanmious selection, earned All-Big Ten honors for the first time after leading the Wildcats in goals (41), points (52), game-winning goals (4), ground balls (29). She scored at least two goals in 13 games during the regular season and had eight games with at least three goals, including two with four and a career-high six goal effort against Rutgers. Craig tied her career high with six points two times during the regular season and recorded a team-high 14 multi-point games. 

She recorded nine games with at least two ground balls and has five games with at least two caused turnovers. She ranked fifth in the Big Ten in goals and goals per game and is in the top 10 in the league in points and points per game. A native of Wantagh, New York, she ranked fourth in conference only play with 15 goals (3.0/game), seventh with 18 points (3.6/game) and was third with 10 ground balls (2.0) game. 

Craig was named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week following wins over Michigan and Notre Dame and earned Offensive Player of the Week honors after her career-high six goals versus Rutgers. 

In additioin to her unanimous All-Big Ten honor, Craig was also named the program's Sportsmanship Award Honoree. The players chosen are individuals who have distinguished themselves through sportsmanship and ethical behavior. In addition, the students must be in good academic standing and have demonstrated good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting.

Lasota earned All-Big Ten honors for the second-straight season after being named the 2015 Big Ten Freshman of the Year. The sophomore tied with Craig for the team lead with 41 goals and has dished out seven assists to rank second on the team with 48 points this season. Lasota led all players during Big Ten play with 18 goals and tied for ninth in conference-only play in assists per game at 0.90. She was second in Big Ten play with 20 draw controls (4.0/game). 

She became the fastest player in program history to pass the 100-career goal plateau when she hit the century mark in just her 35th career game. The Campbell River, British Columbia native earned a pair of Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week honors during the regular season when she scored five goals in the season opener against No. 4 Duke and closed the regular-season campaign with a career-high eight goals, one assist, six draw controls, three caused turnovers and two ground balls in a 22-13 win over No. 19 Ohio State. 

Lasota scored in 12 of 16 regular season games, tallying at least two goals nine times. She enters the 2016 Big Ten Tournament riding a six-game goal streak in which she has tallied 26 goals (4.3/game). 

The complete list of All-Conference honorees is attached. The Attack Player, Midfielder, Defensive Player and Goaltender of the Year, along with the Freshman and Coach of the Year, will be announced on Monday, May 9 following the conclusion of the Big Ten Tournament.
