Wildcats Ink Two More to Class of 2020

EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern fencing coach Zach Moss announced two new additions to the incoming class of 2020 on Monday.
Abby Tartell (Miami, Fla., Pine Crest School) and Amy Jia (Houston, Texas, Bellaire High School) will join the five other incoming freshmen announced in February.
"We are excited to have two more excellent fencers joining us for the 2016-17 season," Moss said. "Abby and Amy will be strong additions to our team. Both bring a solid fencing background, a superb work ethic and an outstanding attitude. We are eager to have them jump in and make an impact."
Tartell competed in club fencing throughout high school, and she was a four-year varsity tennis player for the 2015 FHSAA Women's Tennis State Champion team. Jia has competed for the United States in a number of international competitions from Shanghai, China to Havana, Cuba.
Moss will begin his tenure as head coach of the Wildcats next season.

High School: Represented the United States in the following international competitions: 2015 Shanghai Grand Prix, 2016 Havana Grand Prix, 2015 Fleuret Challenge Marathon in Paris … Multiple top-32 placings in Division I Women's Foil for Salle Mauro Fencing Academy club team … Member of National Honor Society in high school.
Personal: Competitive figure skater and swimmer … Enjoys attending operas and symphonies … Plays classical guitar and sings, and has performed in Carnegie Hall … Attended same high school as Oscar-winning director Richard Linklater (Boyhood) ... Anticipated major is Civil Engineering.
