EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern women's golf will begin their journey to the 2016 NCAA Championships as the No. 2 seed at the Shoal Creek NCAA Regional, hosted by the University of Alabama on May 5-7. The back-to-back Big Ten Champions earned their seventh consecutive Regionals berth under head coach Emily Fletcher.

The Wildcats are in search of their fourth consecutive berth in the NCAA Championships, following a program-best 10th-place result last season at Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Fla.
The NCAA Regionals, conducted at four sites (Shoal Creek, Ala.; Stanford, Calif.; Bryan, Texas; Baton Rouge, La.), will feature 54 holes of stroke play (five-count-four), with 18 holes being played each day. The top six teams and the top three individuals not associated with one of those teams will advance to the NCAA Championship, which will be played on May 20-25 at Eugene Country Club in Eugene, Ore. If there is a tie for the final advancing spot, a playoff will be utilized.
Northwestern captured their second consecutive Big Ten Championship, and third in the last four years, on Sunday at Indianapolis' The Fort Golf Resort with a lineup that featured one senior, one junior, two sophomores and two freshmen. The Wildcats established a new Big Ten Championships scoring record
Following the tournament sophomore Hannah Kim was honored with the Mary Fossum Award, given annually to the student-athlete with the best scoring average in the Big Ten. The reigning Conference Player of the Year is the first Wildcats golfer to win the award.
