Kaleigh Craig, Mallory Weisse Earn Big Ten Honors

Craig may be the Wildcats' leader in points, but it was her defense that stood out in the Wildcats' two games last week and helped them claim victories over Michigan and Notre Dame. She scored three goals in the 20-4 win over Michigan, but also had a career-high three caused turnovers and a pair of ground balls. On Sunday against No. 5 Notre Dame, Craig had 2 goals, 2 assists, 2 caused turnovers and 2 ground balls. She finished the week with five goals, two assists, five caused turnovers and four ground balls.
Weisse was key in the two victories for the Wildcats last week, making 14 saves and allowing just 8.0 goals per game against Michigan and No. 5 Notre Dame. Weise made six saves and allowed a season-low four goals in a 20-4 victory over Michigan. She had eight saves and held the second-ranked scoring offense in the country three goals below their season average, helping the' Cats jump out to a commanding first-half lead by allowing only three goals in the first 30 minutes. Weisse leads the Big Ten in saves and saves per game.
The Westfield, New Jersey, native was also named Freshman and Defensive Player of the Week on March 29.
The 12th-ranked Wildcats improved to 6-6 on the season with their two wins last week and play the final two regular season home games of the season this weekend against No. 6 USC on Friday and Rutgers on Sunday.
