EVANSTON, Ill. — Northwestern men's soccer head coach Tim Lenahan announced the addition of six players to the program on Wednesday.
Two signees join their brothers on the team, and three new Wildcats are also products of the state of Illinois.
"In Ty Seager, you can get one of the fastest players in high school soccer and one of Illinois all-time leading scorers while Mac Mazzola, a 6'4" forward or midfielder possesses a delicate touch on the ball. His combination size and touch are a rare combination," said Lenahan. "Matt Moderwell is a pure winger who is both left-footed and a very physical player. Sean Lynch and Andrew McLeod both possess good size, toughness and ball winning ability while Mattias Tomasino is part of the current generation of central defenders who have a great ability to possess the ball out of the back."
According to Lenahan, this signing class embodies the culture and family that the men's soccer program built upon.
"Moderwell and Tomasino are joining their brothers on the team while Mazzola has grown up around the Northwestern program as his dad and I played college soccer together and have remained life long friends," he said. "Andrew, Sean and Ty all come from wonderful families that understand what a great place and program Northwestern is. I am very happy with this group and really looking forward to welcoming their families to be a part of our family."
"I really like the balance of this class," said Lenahan of the Class of 2020. "We have added size, technical ability and athleticism to the group."
