SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Northwestern women's fencing went 12-2 at the NU Duals this weekend, claiming victories over four Top-10 foes, including No. 3 Princeton. Head coach Laurie Schiller passed another milestone in his decorated career, reaching the 1,250 career win mark.

While the Wildcats were hosts of the NU Duals, renovations to the Henry Crown Sports Pavilion forced the event to be held in South Bend at Notre Dame. As the last home meet of the season, it was also Senior Day for Northwestern, and the team's six graduating members were recognized.

The Wildcats went 8-0 on Saturday with three straight wins over top-10 teams. The highlight of the day was a 14-13 win over No. 6 Ohio State, the second time Northwestern has defeated the Buckeyes by that margin this season. That victory was preceded by a 19-8 win over No. 10 Temple and a 20-7 decision over No. 8 Penn.

Chicago's Big Ten Team also racked up wins over UC-San Diego (17-10), Wayne State (20-7), Air Force (20-7), Lawrence (24-3) and Cal Tech (25-2) on the event's opening day.

Freshman Maddie Curzon led the way on Saturday with 14 wins in the sabre. That weapon group was 55-17. The epee, led by Ella Lombard's 10 wins, was even better overall, posting a 60-12 mark between eight fencers. Jen Yamin paced the Foil, picking up nine of the group's 44 wins on the day.

Schiller picked up career win 1,250 against Air Force on Saturday, a mark only surpassed by one coach: North Carolina's Ron Miller.

On day two, Schiller's squad came head to head with the Tar Heels and Northwestern took a commanding 20-7 victory, followed by a win by the same score over another research triangle school: Duke. Northwestern claimed their biggest win of the weekend with a 15-12 defeat of No. 3 Princeton on Sunday, and also trounced Stanford 19-8, while falling only to No. 2 Notre Dame and No. 9 Penn State.

Curzon added 11 more wins to finish the weekend as the most victorious Wildcat, including a 3-0 sweep against Notre Dame. The Saber squad as a whole went 28-24, bringing their weekend total to 83-41. Yamin again led the foil group with 11 wins, bolstered by Yvonne Chart's 10 to help the weapon go 37-15, including a 7-2 performance in the upset of Princeton. Juliana Barrett had a successful senior sendoff as the third Wildcat with 11 wins on the day, part of a 29-23 epee performance on Sunday.

Northwestern will take their 34-6 record into the rescheduled Penn Duals in three weeks before beginning preparation for the Midwest Conference Championships in Columbus, Ohio on Feb. 27-28.
