The Northwestern women's swimming and diving program wrapped up the fall quarter and headed to the sunshine state to continue its preparation for the 2017 Big Ten Championships. The Wildcats are providing a daily blog from their experience:
Hey Wildcat fans!! What an awesome week to be a wildcat. On Tuesday morning we had a beautiful sunrise dryland with boxing, cardio and abs. Next, we hopped into the pool and did some fitness building swimming, which everyone killed, and then we got brunch and headed back to the hotel to relax.
During afternoon practice we worked on event specific work, and at the end of practice we got to have some fun racing. Everyone was split into relays and raced 25s against each other. After practice we headed back to our condos for a nice home cooked meal.
Wednesday was by far the most exciting day we have had so far in the amazing Florida Keys. First, we killed it with a core circuit before hopping into the pool for some aerobic swimming. After our swim we headed to Docs Diner for a fantastic brunch, but the best was yet to come. Next, we headed to Dolphin Island Care.
At Dolphin Island Care we learned about the amazing therapy that they provide to all types of people, including veterans. We got to see the dolphins swim around at the beginning, and then the veterans headed into the water to swim with dolphins. The dolphins did some amazing tricks, and the veterans had smiles the whole time. It was an unforgettable experience!
After watching the dolphins, we headed back to the condo for a bit before hitting it hard again at our afternoon practice. We worked on event specific work again and some stroke technique. We only have one more day of training and one more day until (most) Secret Santas are revealed! The 'Cats are having an amazing time in the 80-degree weather and cannot wait for paddle boarding Friday morning!! Go 'Cats!

The Wildcats visited Island Dolphin Care, a nonprofit organization that provides veterans and children with disabilities services with dolphins to help with their rehabilitation.
