The Northwestern women's swimming and diving program wrapped up the fall quarter and headed to the sunshine state to continue its preparation for the 2017 Big Ten Championships. The Wildcats are providing a daily blog from their experience:
What a time to be a Northwestern Wildcat! Yesterday we left the snowy streets of Evanston and made our way to Key Largo, Florida. Each year our team takes a trip to an exotic destination where we train hard, have fun and soak up the sun!
Our journey began Sunday with the plane ride and settling into our condos. We got to sleep in a little bit Monday morning before it was time to kill it in the pool. We had multiple challenging sets, and the team crushed it! With the sun shinning and J Biebs playing on the underwater speakers, I don't know what could have made the morning better! Dryland followed the pool work out, and then we hit up Doc's Diner for a post workout brunch. After that delicious meal we had free time to chill by the pool, nap, or do whatever we wanted.
During the afternoon practice we worked on top-speed and everyone got up on the blocks and raced! We had a blast cheering each other on and making jokes in between swims. After practice we returned home, and each condo was able to cook their own gourmet dinners— ooh la la! Dessert was served at the Blond Giraffe Key Lime Pie Factory, where we had too many fantastic options to choose from! Yum!
Overall the trip is starting off with a bang! Morale is good and energy is high! Us Wildcats can't get enough of the water and the sun, and we are excited to show off all of our hard work at the end of the season with big smiles and nice tans! Everybody watch out, the 'Cats are on a mission!
Go Northwestern! Go Purple! Go 'Cats!
