Below are details on the Wildcats' 2017 opponents:

Chicago's Big Ten Team will open the season on Jan. 30 at the Athletico Center in Northbrook, Illinois, against Canisius. The Golden Griffins are one of 13 teams on the 'Cats' schedule that finished with a winning record last season as they finished 13-7.

A NCAA Tournament rematch with Notre Dame on Feb. 5 will kick off a five-game stretch away from Evanston for NU that also features contests at Colorado (Feb. 12), USC (Feb. 18), versus Syracuse at Hofstra University (Mar. 3) and at Stony Brook (Mar. 5).

The Fighting Irish knocked the Wildcats out of the NCAA Tournament in the second round last season before falling in the quarterfinals to finish 14-7.

Despite narrowly missing postseason play last season, Colorado finished with a 13-5 mark under former Wildcat great Ann Elliott. The 'Cats have played the Buffs each of the last two seasons at home and will be making their first trip to Boulder.

Northwestern will travel a little further West just six days later to take on another former Wildcat-led program in USC. Lindsey Munday's Trojans were among the nation's top programs last season, suffering their only loss in the national quarterfinals to finish 20-1.

The 'Cats will take on Syracuse at Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York, for their first game in March. The Orange won 20 games last season before falling on championship weekend and finishing ranked No. 3 in the country.

Following the five-game stretch, Northwestern will play seven of its last 11 games of the regular season at the friendly confines of Lanny and Sharon Martin Stadium. The Wildcats open the stretch by hosting Marquette on March 11.

A matchup with the defending national champion North Carolina Tar Heels looms for the 'Cats on March 19 before they travel to Michigan for the Big Ten opener on March 23 for a quick two-game road trip.

Three-straight games at home kick off with another NCAA Tournament rematch versus Louisville March 26. The Wildcats have knocked the Cardinals out of postseason each of the last two seasons, including last year by a tally of 15-5.

Johns Hopkins' women's program will join the Big Ten in 2017 after playing each of the last two years as an independent and visit NU on March 30 for a conference affair. The two teams will renew their rivalry as former members of the American Lacrosse Conference.

The three-game homestand concludes on April 2 when the 'Cats host a Penn squad that advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament last season before finishing ranked No. 9 in the country with a 15-5 record.

Big Ten play continues for the 'Cats with a trip to Columbus for the second-straight year to take on Ohio State. The Buckeyes finished 11-6 last season, including a 22-13 loss to the Wildcats.

Northwestern will host Penn State under the lights of Martin Stadium on April 13. The two squads split their two meetings last year with the Wildcats defeating the Nittany Lions in the semifinals of the Big Ten Tournament, 9-6.

Duke will visit the shores of Lake Michigan just two days later for a Saturday afternoon affair. The Blue Devils went 11-9 last season and fell in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Northwestern opened last season with an 11-8 win over the squad from Durham.

The Wildcats close the regular season with a pair of conference games when they travel to Rutgers on April 22 and host rival Maryland under the lights on April 27. The Terrapins went 22-1 last season, falling in the national championship game to North Carolina.

The 2017 Big Ten Tournament will be played in College Park, Maryland from May 5-7. The NCAA Tournament will kick off on May 12 and championship weekend will be held at Gillette Stadium, home of the National Football League's New England Patriots, in Boston May 26-28.
