Northwestern Welcomes #23 NDSU to Welsh-Ryan Arena Friday

EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern returns to Welsh-Ryan Arena tomorrow night when it takes on No. 23 North Dakota State at 7 p.m.

The Wildcats (4-0) have rolled through the early nonconference schedule and boast eight starters with winning records through four dual meets and the Keystone Classic.

Free t-shirts will be given to early arriving fans.

The match will be broadcast live on BTN Plus, with sophomore Luke Norland on the call. Live scoring will be available via TrackWrestling. Links for both can be found in the table at the top of the page.

JOINING THE RANKS
Northwestern redshirt junior Mitch Sliga is ranked nationally by TrackWrestling this week. After his second-place finish at the Keystone Classic on Nov. 20, Sliga came in at No. 23 in the country at 184 lbs. Eight bouts into the season, Sliga has seven victories to his name, including a 4-0 record in dual meets.

STARTING STRONG
Sliga is not the only one with a standout early season performance. Anthony Rubinetti, Shayne Oster, Johnny Sebastian, Jacob Berkowitz and Conan Jennings all boast 4-0 dual marks that have helped the team maintain its perfect record on the season. Rubinetti, Oster and Jennings each have recorded six wins overall, while Sebastian matches Sliga at 7-1. Berkowitz leads the team with eight wins in just nine bouts.

BEEN HERE BEFORE
The Wildcats are no strangers to dominating early in the season. This year marks the third time in four years that the team is 4-0, and the fifth time in the last seven. The run started in 2010, a year in which Northwestern was victorious in each of its first 14 matches before finishing 18-2.
