EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern is headed for a busy weekend, beginning Friday with a dual meet at Bloomburg that will be followed by the Keystone Classic on Sunday. The meet against Bloomburg will start at 5 p.m. CT, and the Keystone Classic will be an all-day event taking place at UPenn in Philadelphia.
Northwestern is fresh off a 30-8 victory at Cal Poly that improved its overall record to 3-0. Eight wrestlers have won all of their individual contests. Anthony Rubinetti, Jason Ipsarides, Shayne Oster, Bryce Brill, Johnny Sebastian, Mitch Sliga, Jacob Berkowitz and Conan Jennings are all 3-0 on the season.
Bloomsburg enters the meet with a 3-2 record. Following dominant shutout victories over Davidson and Keystone College, the Huskies fell in back-to-back contests against Northern Illinois and Purdue. Bloomsburg recorded its third win with a close victory over the University of Indianapolis.
The Keystone Classic will feature twelve teams from around the country. In addition to Chicago's Big Ten Team, hosts No. 22 Penn will also welcome defending national champions No. 4 Penn State, No. 23 Rider, Appalachian State, Drexel, Eastern Michigan, Franklin & Marshall, Harvard, Pittsburgh, Sacred Heart and VMI.
The day's proceedings will include appearances by 25 wrestlers that are ranked in the top 25 nationally in their respective weight classes.
