EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern women's basketball is back at it again this Wednesday at Welsh-Ryan Arena, where the Wildcats host Missouri State at 7 p.m.
Single-game tickets and season tickets are available through the Northwestern Ticket Office, online at NUSports.com or by calling 888-GO-PURPLE.
MSU and Northwestern have split their two previous meetings, with the Lady Bears winning 73-70 in Springfield in 1997, and the Wildcats earning an 84-76 victory in Puerto Rico in 1995.
A LOOK AT NORTHWESTERN
The 'Cats enter Wednesday's matchup with a perfect 2-0 record after a pair of wins over Hampton and Oral Roberts to start the year. Northwestern had four players in double-digits in both contests as senior forward Nia Coffey racked up the 41st and 42nd double-double of her career. Coffey is one of 11 players in the country to have a pair of double-doubles to tip off the 2016-17 season. Against Oral Roberts, senior guard Ashley Deary recorded her 1,000th career point to become the third active Wildcat to accomplish the feat. Deary is currently the NCAA's active career steals lead and is just 57 steals shy of breaking the Big Ten's career record.
Chicago's Big Ten Team leads the country in blocked shots, averaging 11.5 per game, and ranks among the top three teams in the Big Ten free-throw percentage (76.9) and 3-point field goal defense (21.1). As a team, the 'Cats are shooting 42 percent from the field, including 33 percent from long range and 77 percent from the charity stripe, while holding the opposition to just 30 percent from the floor.
A LOOK AT MISSOURI STATE
Missouri State enters the game with a 1-1 overall record with a dominating rebound in over the Kansas Jayhawks, 87-64. The team was picked to finish third in the Missouri Valley Conference this year, after making its 14th trip to the NCAA Tournament last season with a 24-10 overall record. The team returns several star players, including four post players, who total 285 career games and 72 starts. Lady Bears' leading scorer Liza Fruendt returns to the 2016-17 roster after averaging 11 points per game last season. Missouri State brings several notable trends into Wednesday's game, including a 3-1 record on the road against Power Five opponents since the beginning of last season.
