Wildcat Weekly Release

EVANSTON, Ill. — Northwestern men's soccer will open the 2015 campaign this Saturday when it hosts Colgate at Loyola Soccer Park in Chicago. Opening kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. NOTE: The game has been moved from its originally scheduled location at Flames Field to Loyola (Chicago)'s Loyola Soccer Park at 6336 N. Hoyne, Chicago, IL 60626.

The Wildcats went 1-1-1 over three exhibition games against Schwaben AC, Drake and No. 6 Creighton, but now turn their attention to the games that count and the regular season. Head Coach Tim Lenahan, entering his 15th season at the helm of the 'Cats, returns seven starters and 16 letterwinners from last season's team that finished tied for second in the Big Ten and qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the ninth time in program history.

"This is a very special game," head coach Tim Lenahan said. "It's been 25-years since I became a head coach and Erik Ronning, who helped build this program 15 years ago when we got here, is a very good friend. I know his team will absolutely ready to play, organized defensively and have a great team spirit ... I think we're going to see a model of Northwestern in Colgate."

Homes Away From Home: With construction ongoing at Lanny & Sharon Martin Stadium, the Wildcats will play their 'home' games at multiple locations in 2015. The 'Cats will open Saturday against Colgate at Loyola (Chicago)'s Loyola Soccer Park, will play one game at UIC's Flames Field and six games at the home of Major League Soccer's Chicago Fire, Toyota Park.

All-Time Series: The Wildcats and Raiders will be meeting for just the third time in program history as they have split the first two meetings. The Raiders came away with a 1-0 victory in 1990 before the 'Cats earned a shutout of their own in 2007, 3-0.

Welcome Back: Northwestern returns 82 percent of its goal scoring (18-of-22) from last season and is led by senior tri-captain Joey Calistri. The forward enters the season climbing towards the top of the NU record books, ranking fourth in program history in goals (27) and sixth in points (62). Matt Eliason (2007-10) is the career leader in both goals (33) and points (82).

Between the Pipes: One of head coach Tim Lenahan's top priorities early in the season is replacing 2014 Big Ten Goalkeeper Tyler Miller. The program's all-time leader in shutouts (34) was a two-time All-American and is currently on the Seattle Sounders FC2 squad. Senior Zak Allen played the most minutes in net for the 'Cats in exhibition, registering 180 minutes in the three games.

Scouting the Raiders: Colgate went just 6-10-2 a season ago, but 11th-year head coach and former Northwestern assistant Erik Ronning returns 10 starters and 22 letter winners this season. Ethan Kutler is the team's leading returning on the offensive end after a 12-goal, 7-assist campaign a year ago.

Parking at Loyola: Fans attending Saturday night's game can park in the lot at the southeast corner of Devon and Hoyne. Click here for directions to Loyola Soccer Park.
