EVANSTON, Ill. -- Incoming Northwestern freshman diver Olivia Rosendahl (Los Angeles, Calif./Immaculate Heart) has won a bronze medal and earned another top-10 finish at the 2015 World University Games in Gwangju City, South Korea.
With Northwestern head diving coach Alik Sarkisian serving as coach at the Games, Rosendahl paired with incoming Ohio State freshman Haley Allen to score 264.48 points for Team USA in the 3-meter synchronized diving event. That total placed the duo just 3.21 points behind the silver medalists from the host country, while China's team took gold in the event.
Rosendahl and Allen placed fourth in the 3-meter synchro event at last December's USA Diving Winter National Championships after just one practice together, impressing the Team USA committee enough to be among 11 divers selected to represent the United States in Gwangju City.
Individually, Rosendahl was seventh in the finals of the 10-meter platform event. The freshman will matriculate to Evanston later this summer to begin competition for Northwestern. In addition to her WUG success, she brings a pedigree that includes a bronze medal on the 10-meter platform at the 2014 AT&T National Diving Championships.
