ormer Wildcats were two of 36 players named to the National Women's Lacrosse Team Sunday after a three-day tryout.
EVANSTON, Ill. -- A pair of former members of the Northwestern Lacrosse program were named to the 36-member roster for the 2015-15 U.S. Women's National team, US Lacrosse announced Sunday.
Kara Mupo and Alyssa Leonard were named to the roster at the conclusion of a three-day tryout at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. Players were evaluated by the Team USA coaching staff, led by head coach Ricky Fied (Georgetown), as well as three selectors from NCAA schools. Liz Kittleman (Columbia) led the tryout event.
The 2015-16 U.S. Women's National Team will train in the lead-up to the 2017 Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) Women's World Cup in Guildford, England. Ultimately, 18 players will represent the U.S. as the team goes for a third-conescutive and eighth overall world title.
