Lasota Named IWLCA Second-Team All-American

The freshman tied the seventh-best single-season mark in program history with 69 goals

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern freshman Selena Lasota has been named a Second-Team All-American, the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association announced Monday afternoon.

The honor caps a phenomenal debut campaign in which Lasota was voted as the Big Ten Freshman of the Year, named to the inaugural All-Big Ten Team and earned IWLCA All-West Region honors.

Lasota becomes the 47th player in program history to earn IWLCA All-American honors.

The freshman led the Wildcats and set a Northwestern freshman single-season record with 69 goals, tying the seventh-best mark by any player in program history. She ranks fifth in the country in goals, eighth in goals per game (3.29), 15th in points (78) and 31st in points per game (3.71). Lasota also led the team with 24 caused turnovers and was third on the team with nine assists.

A native of Campbell River, B.C., she scored at least one goals in all 21 games, including 19 multi-goal games and 12 games with at least three goals. She twice scored a season-high six goals and set a season high with eight points against Michigan on April 2. Her six caused turnovers at Marquette on Feb. 21 tied the second-best single-game mark in program history.
