RALEIGH, N.C. -- Northwestern opens play in the 2015 NCAA Women's Golf Raleigh Regional on Thursday, May 7, at Lonnie Poole Golf Course, the program's sixth straight Regional appearance. Big Ten Coach of the Year Emily Fletcher will deploy a lineup that includes the 2015 Big Ten Player of the Year, the 2015 Big Ten Individual Champion and three golfers with First Team All-Big Ten honors on their resume.

2015 NCAA Raleigh Regional - Wildcats Tournament Notes

The fourth-seeded Wildcats will be paired with the No. 5 University of Florida Gators and No. 6 Central Florida Knights in Thursday's first round. Senior Hana Lee will be the first `Cat to tee off at 8:24 a.m. ET, followed by freshman Sarah Cho, freshman Hannah Kim, sophomore Kacie Komoto and junior Suchaya Tangkamolprasert (9:00 a.m. ET).

"I think our team is playing its best golf of the season, I love the momentum we have going into this weekend," said Fletcher. "We played a couple of great rounds at the Big Ten Championships, particularly the surge on Sunday. Regardless of which Regional you go to, you have to play really well to advance. We're excited to compete against a group of strong teams, including several that have played well recently. Regardless of which Regional you go to, you have to play really strong golf in order to advance."

Last week Kim became the first player in program history to be honored as the Big Ten Player of the Year, and the third to take home Freshman of the Year honors. Cho fired three straight rounds at par-or-better, the only player in the field to do so, to card a 3-under-par and win the Big Ten Individual Championship at The Fort Golf Resort in Indianapolis. Lee was recognized with the third All-Big Ten honor of her career by the Conference, while Komoto and Tangkamolprasert earned First Team All-Big Ten laurels for 2015.

Northwestern wrapped up the regular-season ranked No. 15 in the nation in both the Golfweek/Sagarin and Golfstat rankings. In addition to the No. 15 Wildcats, the Raleigh Regional features four teams ranked in the Golfweek/Sagarin Top-20, and four more in the Top-35. The 24-team field includes No. 4 South Carolina, No. 7 Louisiana State, No. 12 Mississippi State, No. 20 Florida, No. 26 Alabama, No. 27 Central Florida, No. 30 Furman, No. 34 Ohio State, Iowa State, North Carolina State, Georgia Regents University, Coastal Carolina, Campbell, College of Charleston, Seton Hall, Wichita State and Fairleigh Dickinson.

The 2015 Raleigh Regional marks the sixth consecutive NCAA appearance for the Wildcats under Emily Fletcher and assistant Beth Miller. This year's format has six Regional sites across the country, with the top six teams advancing from each to the 2015 NCAA Championships at Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Fla., from May 22-27.
