EVANSTON, Ill. — Northwestern (4-1) was edged by No. 18 Wisconsin (2-1) on Saturday by a score of 183-117.

The 'Cats were fierce to start the day on the distance free front as Lauren Abruzzo (Denver, Colo./Kent Denver) and Ellen Anderson (Montgomery Village, Md./Gaithersburg) finished 1-2 in the 1000 free. Sydney Modeas (East Amherst, N.Y./Clarence) took home fifth place.

Northwestern had another 1-2 finish in the 200 back, as Lacey Locke (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) and Melissa Postoll (Acworth, Ga./Kennesaw Mountain) were the top competitors. Locke had a time of 2:00.42 and Postoll touched in at 2:01.79, both of their best times of the season. Earlier, Locke swam the 100 back with a time of 55.60, earning second place.

In what has become nearly a fait accompli, Olivia Rosendahl (Los Angeles, Calif./Immaculate Heart) finished in the top two of both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving competitions. From the higher springboard, she took home first place with a score of 347.85 and she finished in second from one meter with a score of 289.43 — her season-best score. The next-closest Wildcat in the 1-meter event was Eryn Scannell (Grand Blanc, Mich./Grand Blanc) with a fourth-place score of 252.83.

Annika Winsnes (Singapore/United World College) continued her performance as one of the Wildcats' top sprint freestylers, as she swam a second-place time of 1:50.05 in the 200 free.

Ellen Stello (Shorewood, Wis./Shorewood) crushed the competition in the 200 fly, touching in at 2:02.12. Teammate Maddy Sims (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove) swam a third-place time of 2:03.85.

Mary Warren (Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead) edged the next-closest swimmer in the 50 free by more than three-tenths of a second, taking home first place with her 23.39 time. Winsnes trailed the second-place finisher by one-hundredth of a second, placing third with a time of 23.73.

However, Winsnes got her revenge in the 100 free, as she finished in first place, notching a time of 50.60, her season-best.

Northwestern's 'A' 200 medley relay quartet of Locke, Julianne Kurke (Atlanta, Ga./Parkview), Julia Pratt (Vincennes, Ind./Vincennes Rivet) and Warren finished in third place with a time of 1:43.62. The 'A' squad of Warren, Pratt, Katherine Sensemen (Terre Haute, Ind./Terre Haute South Vigo) and Winsnes also finished third in the 200 free relay.

Kurke finished in second place in the 200 breast, recording a time of 2:19.54. Earlier in the meet, she took home third place in the 100 breast (1:04.52).
