Kim birdied five, six, seven and ten in the first round, and finished the loop with an eagle on the Par-5 15th and a birdie on 17 to card a 66 and tie the Westmoreland women's course record. The reigning Big Ten Player of the Year then birdied three of her final eight holes in the afternoon to wrap up Day 1 tied for the tournament lead at 7-under with Georgia's Bailey Tardey.
Freshman Stephanie Lau was the low scorer for the 'Cats in the afternoon, carding birdies on four of the final five holes of the front-nine, and two of the last three holes on the back, to finish with a 5-under 67. She is just two strokes off the lead, tied for third-place, heading into Tuesday's final round.
Northwestern's team lineup in the 5-count-4 format (Kim, Lau, Kacie Komoto, Suchaya Tangkamolprasert and Sarah Cho) fired a 4-under 284 in the morning and followed it up with a blistering 8-under 280 in the afternoon. The Wildcats are in second-place, two shots behind tournament leader Georgia and three shots clear of third-place Southern California.

Third round competition till tee off at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 6. Admission is FREE for all spectators.
