Kim Finishes Fourth, Leads 'Cats To Top-4 At Stanford Invitational

STANFORD, Calif. – Wildcats sophomore Hannah Kim carded an even-par 71 in Tuesday's third round to finish the 2015 Stanford Invitational in a tie for fourth place with a 2-under 211 over three days. The Chula Vista, California, native was one of only six players in the 90-person field to finish under par after 54 holes.

The reigning Big Ten Player of the Year closed strong with three birdies over her final seven holes on Tuesday at Stanford University Golf Course. Over the course of three days she did most of her damage on the track's Par-5's, going 4-under, fourth-best in the field, on the longest holes on the course.
Freshman Stephanie Lau finished fifth in the field with 42 pars, while classmate Janet Mao was right on her heels with 41. Lau, a native of Fullerton, California, tied for 11th to secure a fourth consecutive Top-15 finish to open her college career. Mao finished tied for 30th while competing as an individual, her second straight Top-30 finish in as many collegiate starts.
Junior Kacie Komoto joined Kim and Lau as three Wildcats to shoot 71 in Tuesday's final round, finishing off a daily climb up the leaderboard that finished in a tie for 23rd.
After vaulting two spots up the leaderboard on Monday, the Wildcats jumped another spot in Tuesday's third round to finish in fourth-place as a team with an 869 on the scorecard, the only team in the Top-4 from outside California. Ranked No. 1 in the nation in the season's first Golfstat NCAA Rankings, Northwestern has finished in the Top-4 as a group in all four tournaments this season.

This year's 17-team field featured four of the Top-5 teams in the nation in the season's first Golfstat Rankings, and eight of the Top-17, The clubhouse included No. 1 Northwestern, No. 2 Southern California, No. 3 Arizona, No. 5 Georgia, No. 9 Stanford, No. 11 Arizona State, No. 14 Iowa State and No. 17 Washington.
The host Cardinal won the event with a 5-under 847, the only team in the field to finish under par. UCLA's Bronte Law won the individual title at 8-under, her second straight victory in the event.
Located in the foothills overlooking Stanford's campus, the Stanford University Golf Course was designed in 1930 by renowned architects William Bell and George Thomas and the par-71, 6,130-yard course is steeped in tradition. Throughout the years, Stanford has hosted many intercollegiate and non-collegiate events, including the Stanford Intercollegiate, Peg Barnard Intercollegiate, Pac-10 Championship, NCAA Regional, NCAA Women's Championship, USGA Junior Amateur Qualifying, U.S. Open Qualifying and The Gathering at the Farm, a former Senior PGA Tour event.
