EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern will bring its 19-0 record to the east coast this weekend with stops at Penn and New York University on tap for Saturday and Sunday, respectively.

The Wildcats, who are ranked ninth in this season's initial CollegeFencing360 coaches poll, are coming off a Western Invitational championship last Saturday. Northwestern rattled off seven wins, including triumphs over Duke, Stanford and UC San Diego. The Blue Devils are the top women's team among others receiving votes this week, while the Cardinal captured the 13th-most votes.

Northwestern's 20-7 victory over Stanford in the fifth round Saturday was particularly special for NU head coach Laurie Schiller because it was the 1,200th win of his illustrious career.

The weekend starts at the Philadelphia Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 24. No. 6 Penn is hosting the event which features matches against Cornell, No. 10 Temple, Sacred Heart, Johns Hopkins and the host squad. The competition begins when the 'Cats fence Cornell beginning at approximately 7:30 a.m. CST. Cornell and Sacred Heart also received votes this week.

After spending Saturday in the City of Brotherly Love, the Wildcats will travel to the Big Apple for the NYU Invitational on Sunday, Jan. 25. The event will be held this year at the Cobra Fencing Club in Jersey City, N.J. and it features five top-10 teams including the 'Cats.

Northwestern opens against No. 2 Columbia at 7 a.m. CST before taking on the Yale Bulldogs in round two. The third round pits NU against top-ranked Notre Dame and the Wildcats will test themselves against No. 5 Ohio State at about 10:45 a.m. Northwestern's final two rounds will be against Wayne State and NYU.
