SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -- Following a perfect start to the schedule at the 2014 Lakeside Classic, the men's soccer team hits the road this weekend to kick off their road slate with matches against the UC-Santa Barbara Gauchos and the Cal-State Fullerton Titans, at Santa Barbara's Meredith Field at Harder Stadium.

Classic Co-MVP's Joey Calistri and Nikko Boxall led the `Cats to a 2-0-0 start with victories over Quinnipiac and Hofstra last weekend at Lakeside Field. A junior from Deerfield, Ill. who paced the Big Ten in scoring in 2013, Calistri again sits atop the Conference leaderboard with three goals in his first two contests. He now ranks seventh in Northwestern history with 24 career markers. Boxall not only anchored a back line that limited two opponents to seven total shots, but chipped in with two assists.

With a pair of clean sheets in Evanston, goaltender Tyler Miller tied the Wildcats program record with 29 career shutouts. The senior from Woodbury, N.J. was announced this week as one of 30 national candidates for the Senior CLASS Award, and was named to the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List for the second straight year before the season. Miller's next shutout will break a tie with Misha Rosenthal who manned the net for Northwestern from 2007-09.

On Friday (Sept. 5) Northwestern will take on UC-Santa Barbara at 7 p.m. PT on their home turf. The Gauchos opened their own 2014 season by splitting a pair of games last weekend in Charlston, S.C., earning a 2-1 win over the College of Charlston on Friday before falling 3-0 to Furman.

The Wildcats and Gauchos last meeting came just over a year ago when they opened the 2013 campaign against one another at Lakeside Field. Northwestern got a goal from Mike Roberge but fell 3-1 to UCSB. The two sides also matched up in the 2006 NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals and during the 2005 regular season.

On Sunday Northwestern and Cal-State Fullerton will face off for the first time ever, in a neutral site matchup. The Titans prepared for their meeting with Chicago's Big Ten Team by traveling to Chicago and dropping a 3-2 overtime decision to UIC, before playing to a scoreless draw at San Diego on Monday.
