BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Coming off a gritty 1-0 win over local rival DePaul on Wednesday night, Northwestern heads south on I-65 this weekend to take on one of the most accomplished soccer programs in the nation, the Indiana Hoosiers, Sunday afternoon.
"There's eight stars across the top of their shirt for a reason," head coach Tim Lenahan said. "That's because they are the most storied program in college soccer history. That's a tough place to play."
Northwestern last traveled to Bloomington on Nov. 1, 2012, where they earned a 1-1 draw thanks to a Joey Calistri goal and six saves from Tyler Miller.
Miller has been the backbone of one of the nation's stingiest defenses in 2014. The Wildcats 0.35 goals-against-average is the fourth-best in the country entering this weekend's action. The senior netminder, a Woodbury, N.J. native and reigning Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week, has not allowed a goal in his last 307 minutes of action, going back to Sept. 14 against Ohio State.
Northwestern's two top scorers on the season are midfielder Cole Missimo and forward Joey Calistri, who each have three goals.
Indiana is coming off a 4-2 victory over UCF and have won five of their last seven matches. The Hoosiers are the defending Big Ten champions after beating Michigan State last year to earn their 12th Conference crown.
Sunday's game kicks off at 1:30 p.m. CT and can be seen on BTN Plus on BTN2Go.
