EVANSTON, Ill. -- Typically, a late-September fall-ball trip represents the first chance for a new Northwestern Lacrosse team to come together and begin the team-bonding that must occur on and off the field.

But this has not been a typical September for Kelly Amonte Hiller and the Wildcats, who earlier this month spent nine days training and touring in Italy before the start of Northwestern's fall academic quarter. In addition to the life experiences gained from any overseas adventure, the 'Cats also got a head start on preparing for the 2015 campaign and integrating the nation's No. 1-ranked freshman class with a talented group of 26 returners.

"My vision for the trip to Italy was that it would be a great bonding experience to lead us into this upcoming season and I could not have it imagined it any better than how it went," Amonte Hiller said. "From where we stayed at Villa Valentina, with the ability to have team dinners every night and enjoy new experiences together, we know it's something we'll never forget but hopefully it will inject a great sense of togetherness to this team moving forward."

With that in mind, Northwestern has wrapped up its first week of on-campus practices -- substituting Lake Michigan beaches for ancient aqueducts as the site of their morning training runs -- as well as the first week of classes.

On Sunday, the Wildcats begin their competitive fall ball schedule in earnest, traveling to Park Tudor High School in Indianapolis to face fellow Big Ten member Ohio State on Sunday. The 'Cats and Buckeyes played two down-to-the-wire, one-goal games in two meetings last spring, making what should be an entertaining fall ball matchup this weekend.

See below for the complete Northwestern Lacrosse fall schedule. All home games are played at Lakeside Field in Evanston and are free and open to the public. NU's Oct. 12 date with Colorado and Marquette will be played at Loyola Academy in Wilmette.
