EVANSTON, Ill. -- Following a pair of shutouts over the last six days, 'Cats goalkeeper Tyler Miller has earned his second Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week award of the season, the Conference announced on Monday.

Miller made three stops on Wednesday night in a 1-0 blanking of Valparaiso, a game that kicked off at 9:30 p.m. as part of Northwestern University's Wildcat Welcome Week. He followed that with five saves on Sunday afternoon at Lakeside Field when the 'Cats and Michigan battled through 110 minutes to a scoreless draw.

The senior netminder is the backbone of one of the nation's stingiest defenses, a group that has surrendered just three goals in seven contests this year.

The Woodbury, N.J., native now shares the Big Ten Conference lead with five shutouts in his seven appearances this season. He extended his Wildcats program record to 32 career clean sheets. Over his first three seasons in the Northwestern net, Miller has posted three of the Top-4 all-time single-season shutout totals in team history, including an injury-shortened 2013.

Miller and the 'Cats will be back in action on Wednesday, when they host local rival DePaul in Evanston at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are available at NUSports.com, by calling 888-GO-PURPLE or can be purchased on matchday at the entrance to Lakeside Field.
