Tracey Fuchs Elected to USA Field Hockey Hall of Fame

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Northwestern head field hockey coach Tracey Fuchs has been recognized as one of seven new members of the USA Field Hockey Hall of Fame.
"There's nothing greater than playing for your country at the highest level," Fuchs said. "It was an honor to put on my USA jersey for 17 years and to bring home medals. I was fortunate to bring home a bronze from the World Championships. Now I have the ability to give back to the game in other ways and I feel fortunate for all of the opportunities that I've had in the sport."
A two-time USA Field Hockey Athlete of the Year, Fuchs was a standout for Team USA during her 17 years on the National Team. She participated in 268 international matches on her way to earning the most caps in USA Field Hockey history.
Fuchs was a two-time Olympian, as well as a member on four different World Cup squads, and also competed in the Pan-American Games.
For the past five seasons, Fuchs has served as the head coach of Northwestern's field hockey team, leading the team to a 66-35 record. The 2013 squad earned a share of the school's first Big Ten title since 1994.
The 2014 class marks the first group to be selected to the USA Field Hockey Hall of Fame since 2004. This year's class will formally be inducted on June 28 in Lancaster, Pa.
The criteria for selection into the USA Field Hockey Hall of Fame is based on achievement as an athlete of a USA Team, including long-term supremacy, innovation and contributions to the sport. To be considered an individual must have been a member of the U.S. National Team for a minimum of five years; and must have been out of competition at the National level for five years.
