NCAA Championships Trials Get Acrobat Reader

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Northwestern freshman Lauren Abruzzo competed Thursday in her first NCAA Championships after earning a bid to the national competition at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center in Minneapolis, Minn.

The freshman from Kent Denver School in Denver, Colo. swam in the 500 freestyle, recording a time of 4:49.27 to finish in a dead heat with Yale sophomore Eva Fabian, ranking No. 58 as the NCAA Championships began with the prelim trials in the morning session.

Her top time in the 500 free was 4:46.11, the fastest time of the season swam by a Northwestern swimmer and a Norris Aquatics Center pool record.

The NCAA Championships continue in Minneapolis Friday with events in the 200 medley relay, 400 IM, 100 fly, 200 free, 100 breast, 100 back, 800 free and 3-meter diving. The trials begin at 11:00 a.m. CT with live streaming here. Friday's evening finals begin at 7:00 p.m. CT and air online on ESPN3.com. Live results of the championships can be found here.
