McCarthy Earns Second-Team All-America Recognition

EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern junior back Lisa McCarthy (Dublin, Ireland/Mount Anville) has been recognized as a Longstreth/NFHCA second-team All-American it was announced Monday.
The All-America recognition is the first of McCarthy's career. Previously this season, she was named a first-team All-Big Ten and All-West Region selection.
A steadying force along the back line of defense, McCarthy played a huge role in the Wildcats ranking second in the Big Ten with an average of 1.30 goals allowed per game.
A team captain, she also contributed to the NU attack, ranking second on the squad with 14 assists and tied for fourth with seven goals.
McCarthy helped Northwestern to a 16-7 record in 2014. The team captured its first Big Ten tournament title in school history, defeating three ranked teams along the way, including second-ranked Maryland in the championship game. The title allowed the Wildcats to earn an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament as the squad make its first appearance in the field since 1994.
Northwestern finished the season ranked No. 7 in the NFHCA poll.
