Four Wildcats Earn All-Region Accolades

EVANSTON, Ill. -- Four members of the Northwestern field hockey team have earned NFHCA All-West Region recognition. Juniors Charlotte Martin and Lisa McCarthy along with sophomore Dominique Masters picked up first-team selections while senior Maddy Carpenter was tabbed to the second team.
By virtue of the recognition, the individuals are now eligible for All-America consideration.
All four individuals played a huge role in leading the Wildcats to a 16-7 record, their first Big Ten tournament title in school history and the program's first NCAA tournament appearance since 1994.
McCarthy picked up the third all-region selection of her career after being named to the first team a year ago and to the second team as a freshman. She played a huge role in the Wildcats ranking second in the Big Ten with an average of 1.30 goals allowed per game. McCarthy also contributed to the NU attack, ranking second on the squad with 14 assists and tied for fourth with seven goals.
Martin picked up her first all-region award after being a reliable force in the midfield for the 'Cats. Her efforts were a large reason why Northwestern ranks ninth nationally with a 1.26 team goals-against average. Offensively, Martin led the Wildcats and ranked fourth in the Big Ten with 17 assists.
Masters was the team leader with 15 goals and 38 points this season. The forward was named to the Big Ten all-tournament team after scoring three goals to help lead the Wildcats to the title. Her five game-winning goals tied for second in the Big Ten. The all-region selection is the first of her career.
Carpenter, the first-team All-Big Ten goalkeeper, earned her first all-region accolade. She posted a 1.29 goals-against average this season, including a 1.22 mark during the conference season. Carpenter had four shutouts in 2014 and recorded a conference-best .762 save percentage in Big Ten play. For her efforts in the Big Ten tournament, she was name the Most Outstanding Player.
