TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Northwestern sophomore Jena Pianin cut more than 30 seconds off her previous-best 6K time to lead the Wildcats at Saturday morning's Pre-Nationals meet in Terre Haute, Ind. Pianin finished in a tie for 33rd overall in a field of nearly 300 of the nation's top runners with a time of 21:21.0

Pianin was the fifth individual finisher from a Big Ten school while posting NU's fastest 6K time of the season.

Sophomore Andrea Ostenso was next across the line for Northwestern, finishing 124th in 22:14.4, while junior Camille Blackman was third among NU runners in 22:31.6.

Elena Barham (22:36) and freshman Isabel Seidel (23:05.0) rounded out Northwestern's group of point-scorers.

As a team, the Wildcats placed 31st in a field of 44 squads composed of many of the nation's top-ranked squads. Georgetown, which entered the meet ranked fourth nationally, claimed the team title over previously No. 1 Michigan (third) and No. 3 Oregon (second). The Wildcats were the fourth overall Big Ten team in the standings.

Complete individual and team results from Terre Haute are linked in PDF format at the top of the page.

The meet was the last test for Northwestern's top tier of runners before the group will head to Iowa City for the 2014 Big Ten Cross Country Championships on Sunday, Nov. 2. Next week, however, the Wildcats will send a squad to the Illini Open (Oct. 24) in Champaign, with several NU runners looking to earn a bid to the conference meet.
